Advocacy & Government Affairs
A voice for members' interests
Chamber members know that the Chamber has their back. We go to bat for our businesses, representing their interests not only on the local level, but at the county and state levels as well. How to help generate good jobs and support smart growth? These are the kinds of policy issues that the Chamber regularly addresses.
An ear for members' concerns
We can’t always take sides, nor would you want us to. But we can be the place where we listen to both—or all—sides together. That’s why, for example, the Chamber will host candidates’ forums for local elections, bringing together all the candidates for your questions. The Chamber is the place where members can engage in productive conversation. You can contact our advocacy team at firstname.lastname@example.org
A connector to the policy makers
Despite our digital era, face-to-face still has a place, especially when it comes to meeting and getting to know the leading influencers in our community. Our Government Affairs meetings facilitate and foster these connections, and also bring in key speakers to address topics affecting the community.
A conduit for action
When it’s right for the Chamber to take a position on an issue, we step up, reaching out to both the business community and the news media. The Chamber’s Board of Directors provides final review and approval on all direct advocacy matters.
How to be part of advocacy:
- On The Record e-Newsletter: A member benefit of the Greater Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce, is a bi-monthly newsletter on regional, state, and federal governmental and regulatory news that is relevant to your business. Stay on top of the topics and if you have a subject that needs to be addressed, please contact Chamber Staff, the Chair of Advocay, or our Executive Committee on the Board of Directors and e-mail email@example.com. Articles and links contained in this email may not represent the views of the Chamber and are intended as informational only unless otherwise stated.
- Candidates Forum: Attend the Candidate Forum prior to each Municipal Election for Commissioner and/or Mayoral candidates. The forum is held in conjunction with the Delray Beach Center for the Arts and provides all residents an opportunity to meet the candidates, learn of their priorities and plans if elected, and to ask questions of the candidates.
- Legislative Luncheon: Each year in November the Chamber hosts a Legislative Luncheon with our state representatives. This is a great opportunity to meet those that govern our state, ask questions and learn about their legislative priorities.
- Sponsorship opportunities are available for this event and the public is invited to attend.
