CDL employees learned about the shoe drive through Stuart Martin Chamber of Commerce and set out collection boxes in the Firm throughout the month of February. At the conclusion of the drive, the shoes will be weighed and the Club will receive a check that will be donated to UNICEF USA. Deadline for the shoe drive is March 15. It is an annual tradition for CDL employees to go outside and take a photo in support of The American Heart Association’s (AHA) Go Red for Women/National Wear Red Day. This year’s Wear Red Day was slated for Friday, Feb. 1. Unfortunately, rainy weather cancelled plans to take a “heart photo”. Not to be detoured, CDL employees came out on Friday, Feb. 8 to show their support. Statistics show that heart disease kills approximately one woman every 80 seconds in the United States. However, 80% of cardiac events can be prevented through healthy life-style changes. Special recognition goes to CDL’s Shelly Price for taking the photo; Shannon Foster who is an Executive Committee member for the AHA’s Go Red for Women Campaign; Andrea Rossi who is part of the AHA’s BetterU Challenge and the 43 employees, including five CDL shareholders, who wore red and participated in the photo session.
