Our Mission
Saint Joseph's Episcopal School provides a challenging and innovative education in a safe, Christian climate. Through combined efforts of teachers, parents, and students, we seek to nourish our students' minds, bodies, and spirits.

Our Vision
Saint Joseph's Episcopal School is a nurturing, diverse, and inclusive environment in which students receive a stimulating education. With a focus on science, technology, religion, engineering, the arts, and mathematics (S.T.R.E.A.M.), we foster the importance of collaboration, critical thinking, and 21st century skills. As an independent school, we are able to provide children the attention they deserve so that each reaches his/her full potential as lifelong learners.

St. Joe’s was founded in 1958 and has been growing ever since! We serve students on two beautiful campuses: Pre-Kindergarten through Eighth Grade on our upper campus and children aged 1 through 3 at our Early Childhood Academy. This allows us to take children from diapers to potty training all the way to graduating Middle School while ensuring placement in students’ first choice for high school.
About

Last week, St. Nicholas paid a visit to the Kindergarten room to celebrate his Feast day! St. Nick left lots of goodies for the children in their shoes, which he managed to bring from their homes! #StNicholasFeastDay #GoodiesGalore

As part of Mrs. Beck’s Fifth Grade’s study of the novel "The Cay", students participated in a “blindness simulation” activity where they had to complete several in-class and playground activities wearing a mask to simulate what it would be like if they suddenly lost their ability to see. This helped students better understand the situation of the main character, Phillip, who went blind after a U-boat attack. Student reflections include: “While I was doing the activities I felt confused and a little scared. I thought I would get hurt, but I didn’t thanks to my partner! I was afraid she would abandon me!” – Lisa O. “This was very interesting. I felt like I was going to fall or bump into something, and I did! I learned to trust my partner.” – Jennifer J. “I thought being “blind” was challenging. I felt like I was lost because I could not see!” – Poppy T. #Literature #STREAM

Recently, Honey the therapy dog came to Kindergarten to listen to the students practice their reading skills! Research has shown that students benefit from reading to a "non-judgemental" listener. Honey was very relaxed and enjoyed listening to the young readers. #BeginningReaders #HoneyTheTherapyDog

Recently Fourth Grade readers were “teachers” in the classroom, by writing a 10 question quiz reflecting the information they learned about hurricanes in their current anthology story. Students exchanged quizzes to “assess” their classmates. Question writing is an excellent way to develop inquisitiveness, reinforce retention of text information, and make responding to the reading more interesting for the students. #STREAM #ThinkOutsideTheBox
