Some local post offices are helping fight food insecurity on Saturday, May 9. As part of the national Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, three post offices–Boynton Main, Boynton Downtown, and Delray Main–are collecting non-perishable food items to support CROS Ministries, a leading South Florida nonprofit providing hunger relief in Palm Beach County.
The letter carriers of these select post offices have the opportunity to opt-in to their route participating in the drive. The carriers deliver postcards announcing the drive to the residents and drop off bags to be filled. On May 9, the carriers pick up the bags of food that are then unloaded from their mail trucks and sorted by CROS Ministries volunteers.
The food collected stays local and goes directly to CROS’ food pantries–nine sites throughout Palm Beach County, including one at the Neighborhood Resource Center in Delray Beach.
If you are not a resident served by one of these post offices, you can drop off non-perishable food items directly at Boynton Main (1530 Boynton Beach Blvd.), Boynton Downtown (217 N. Seacrest Blvd.), or Delray Main (14280 S. Military Trl).
Or if you are interested in hosting your own food drive to fight local food insecurity, email browe@crosministries.org.
