Habitat for Humanity of Greater Palm Beach County Announces Veterans Build 2023, Presented by Vertical Bridge

Lake Worth Beach, FL– (October 19, 2023) Habitat for Humanity of Greater Palm Beach County (HFHGPBC) has announced its annual Veterans Build event, presented by Vertical Bridge, which will be held on November 3, 2023, in Lake Worth Beach. The event will welcome volunteers to participate in Neighborhood Engagement projects, new home construction, and the renovation of an existing home for veterans and their families in Lake Worth Beach.

“Vertical Bridge is proud to once again sponsor this year’s Habitat for Humanity Veterans Build,” said Ron Bizick, CEO of Vertical Bridge. “We are pleased to continue partnering with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Palm Beach County to provide housing and stability to those in need throughout our community. Our team’s support of the Veterans Build is especially meaningful given its profound impact on the lives of those who have served and sacrificed for our country.”

Florida has the third largest veteran population in the nation, according to the Florida Department of Veterans Affairs, and over 76,000 live in Palm Beach County. The funds raised through Veterans Build 2023 directly impact our community’s active and former military service members.

“At Habitat for Humanity of Greater Palm Beach County, we are proud to celebrate those who have served our country,” said Jennifer Thomason, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Palm Beach County.  “Safe, decent, affordable housing is the centerpiece of Veterans Build, as well as providing volunteer experiences that bring together veterans, military families, and their neighbors.”

Co-Chairs of Veterans Build 2023 are Anné Desormier-Cartwright, Elder & Estate Planning Attorneys, PA, and Ryan Paton, President of Capitol Lending Group and Founder of Honor Flight. Honorary Co-Chairs are Charles Millar and Julia Dattolo. Committee Members include Brandon Albers, Buzz Bryan, Nicholas Cannon, Donna Kerner, Clint Lowe, Michael Maglio, Jonathan Oakley, Ivan Rosa, Silvia Rotela, and Melissa Royal.

Veterans Build is a program that aims to provide affordable homeownership opportunities for veterans and their families, while also engaging the veteran community and its supporters. In today’s challenging times, finding a safe and affordable place to call home has become increasingly difficult. Palm Beach County has seen a significant rise in housing prices in recent years, making the dream of homeownership even more challenging to achieve.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Palm Beach County welcomes corporate partners, volunteers, and service members to help build a home for a deserving Veteran in our community.  Committed Sponsors include Vertical Bridge (Presenting Sponsor), Baptist Health, Pratt Whitney, MISSION UNITED, United Way Palm Beach County, Flagler Rotary Club, Realtors of Palm Beach, Broward, and St. Lucie Counties, South Florida Business and Wealth (Exclusive Magazine Sponsor), New Country 103.1/Hubbard Radio (Exclusive Radio Sponsor), Nonprofit Nest (Apparel Sponsor), Prove Identity (Lunch Sponsor), The Brandx Company, Carrier (Community Builder Sponsor),  Comcast, Magen Protective Services (Security Sponsor), Starbucks (Coffee and Pastry Sponsor) and Winn Dixie (Water Sponsor).

This property was generously donated to Habitat by the Lake Worth Beach CRA.

“Together, the Lake Worth CRA and Habitat for Humanity of Greater Palm Beach County have built and/or financed over 45 affordable units in the city. Habitat’s partnership means so much to us and we hope to continue partnering with them in the future,” said Joan Oliva, Executive Director.
