Kids can enjoy splash pools, storytelling, and chess, while adults can shop for unique African-inspired goods from local vendors. To top it off, the Reaxtion Band will take the stage for a lively concert.

Celebrate Juneteenth at our annual Spady House Party, presented in partnership with the Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce. This festive evening will feature great food, cool drinks, and upbeat music—along with a powerful purpose.
This year, the celebration honors 100 years of the Spady House. We aim to raise $100,000 to support the museum’s future, so it can continue to preserve and share Black history for generations to come. Guests will learn about the importance of Juneteenth while enjoying a relaxed, feel-good atmosphere.

What is Juneteenth?
On June 19, 1865, Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, with news that the Civil War had ended and enslaved people were finally free. Although President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, the delay in communication meant many enslaved individuals didn’t learn of their freedom until years later.
Juneteenth commemorates that powerful moment. In Florida, Emancipation Day is observed on May 20. That’s when General Edward M. McCook read the proclamation in Tallahassee from the steps of what is now known as the Knott House. Today, both dates are honored across the state through celebrations and cultural education.
About the Spady Cultural Heritage Museum
Founded in July 2001, the Spady Cultural Heritage Museum operates under the nonprofit Expanding and Preserving Our Cultural Heritage, Inc. It is located in the historic 1926 home of Solomon D. Spady, a local educator and civic leader.
The museum is the only one of its kind in Palm Beach County dedicated to Black history. Through exhibits, community events, walking and bus tours, and youth programming, the Spady Museum connects people with the rich cultural legacy of Delray Beach’s African American community.
