Your Delray Chamber at Work – Ocotober 2025 Update
In addition to the 24 Do Good Delray events produced by our Non-Profit members and their partners in October, the Chamber team attended several other interesting events and meetings that you may not be aware of.
The Forum Club – Governor Ron DeSantis
Board member Jessica Clasby invited Stephanie to attend The Forum Club on October 15 to hear Governor Ron DeSantis speak. One topic he discussed was property tax reform. For an overview of facts and proposals being made by our State Legislators on this subject, please see our Government Affairs e-blast. CLICK HERE TO LEARN MORE
DDA Merchant Meeting
We attended the DDA Merchant Meeting on October 8 to hear about upcoming events and projects. One topic of discussion was the new parking regulations. Small businesses and merchants in the downtown area continue to reach out to our Commissioners regarding the unintended negative effects they expect to encounter. The DDA plans to send out a Parking Survey soon. We will be sure to send out the survey link for you to provide input so we can track the effects of this new policy.
CityLead
The Chamber regularly purchases a table at CityLead, a monthly lunch where community leaders connect and learn about leadership principles. If you are interested in attending, please reach out to Carolina Rush, who hosts the table each month, at carolina@delraybeach.com.
Sister Cities Global Alliances Event with Ambassador Dr. Elsie Kanza of Tanzania
On October 30, Sister Cities welcomed Ambassador Dr. Elsie Kanza of Tanzania for a forum discussing global alliances. The Chamber was honored to host the meeting in our offices. Those in attendance included Mayor Tom Carney, Commissioner Juli Casale, City Manager Terrance Moore, Assistant City Manager Jeff Oris, former Mayor David Schmidt, President of the Sister Cities organization Dr. Daphney Antoine, and Rotary President Rita Rana. Many board members of the Sister Cities organization also attended, as did representatives from other municipalities participating in this long-standing international program. Moshi, Tanzania, is our Sister City, and Mr. Kjell Bergh spoke about establishing the relationship with Moshi over 25 years ago. Later that evening, many gathered at the Old School Square Vintage Gymnasium for a Safari Dinner fundraiser for Sister Cities.
