Community in Action: A Season of Connection, Conversation, and Investment
March brought with it a season of meaningful engagement for the Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce — from regional collaborations with fellow chamber professionals, to candid conversations with federal leadership, to witnessing firsthand the transformative power of community investment in our local schools. Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to.
Strengthening Our Craft: FACP Regional Meeting
On March 17, Chamber staff members Carolina and Stephanie represented Delray Beach at the Florida Association of Chamber Professionals (FACP) regional meeting, hosted at the Boca Chamber. The gathering brought together chamber professionals from across Palm Beach and Broward Counties for a timely conversation about the current economic environment and an exchange of best practices.
The FACP plays a vital role in equipping chamber professionals with the knowledge, tools, and peer connections needed to better serve their business communities — and this meeting was a great reminder of just how much we can learn from each other. We came back energized and full of ideas.
Conversations That Matter: Chairman’s Club Luncheon with Rep. Lois Frankel
On March 11, our Chairman’s Club gathered for a standout luncheon at The Wine and Spirits Kitchen, joined by U.S. Congressional Representative Lois Frankel. The conversation covered the economic landscape at the national, state, and county levels, with Rep. Frankel taking questions directly from attendees.
The room was filled with Delray Beach’s most engaged community leaders: City Commissioner Juli Casale, Assistant City Manager Jeff Oris, CRA Executive Director Renee Jadusingh, DDA Executive Director Laura Simon, and Sergio Piedra, Senior Director of Intergovernmental Affairs at Discover the Palm Beaches. Together, they tackled the real economic stressors facing our businesses while also shining a light on the positive momentum building across our city.
It was exactly the kind of honest, solutions-focused dialogue that makes the Chairman’s Club so valuable and a reminder of why showing up at the table matters.
Investing in Tomorrow: FPL’s STEM Grant Transforms Banyan Creek Elementary
One of the most inspiring moments of the season came during a visit to Banyan Creek Elementary School, where our community got to witness something truly special: the unveiling of two newly transformed learning spaces, a Computer & Technology Lab and a Media Center & STEM Lab.
These aren’t just upgraded classrooms. They are spaces designed to spark curiosity and prepare students for careers that don’t yet exist. Think interactive LEGO walls, marble runs, iPads, advanced software, 3D printers, robotics kits, and hands-on STEM programming, with every detail thoughtfully chosen to engage young minds and fuel creativity.
This remarkable transformation was made possible through a generous $50,000 STEM classroom makeover grant from Florida Power & Light (FPL), matched with the dedicated efforts of the school’s PTA. Together, they’ve created something that will pay dividends for Delray Beach for years to come.
As a community, every time we invest in a child’s ability to explore, create, and innovate, we are investing in the future of our city. And what a future it is shaping up to be.
