Celebrate 25 Years of the MLK Brunch at the Spady Museum
The Spady Cultural Heritage Museum proudly begins 2025 by celebrating the 25th anniversary of its signature event: the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Brunch—a community tradition honoring Dr. King’s life and legacy.
A Powerful Program Honoring Dr. King
Each year, the brunch draws more than 300 attendees from across Palm Beach and Broward counties. This year’s program features keynote speaker Don Mizell, Esq., a Grammy Award–winning producer and civil rights advocate. About Guest Speaker Don Mizell
Don Mizell is a respected entertainment executive, producer, and civil rights advocate with more than 35 years of experience. He has worked in music management, marketing, and production and played a key role in several social justice campaigns.
While serving as VP and General Manager of Urban Music at Elektra Records, Mizell popularized the term “Jazz/Fusion,” which became a Grammy category in 1979. He also worked with music legends such as Grover Washington Jr., Dee Dee Bridgewater, Sergio Mendes, Donald Byrd, and many others.
In 2005, Mizell won the Grammy for Album of the Year as a producer of Ray Charles’ Genius Loves Company. The record sold over 6 million copies and earned eight Grammy Awards, marking the most successful release of Ray Charles’ career.

Founded in 2001, the Spady Cultural Heritage Museum is located in the historic home of educator Solomon D. Spady. As part of EXPANDING AND PRESERVING OUR CULTURAL HERITAGE, INC., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the museum highlights Black history in Delray Beach through exhibits, archives, community tours, and youth programs.
